Non-Credit English Courses

ENG 050 Intensive English (12)

Non-credit course for those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring lower than the full admission requirement of 100 on the TOEFL iBT or 851 on TOEIC. May be taken a maximum of three times. Requires post-semester TOEFL examination, or midterm and semester-end TOEIC exams.

ENG 070 Elementary English Ia: Listening and Speaking (1)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 70-73 or 650 to 674 on TOEIC. May be taken concurrently with ENG 071.

ENG 071 Elementary English Ib: Reading and Writing (1)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 70-73 or 650 to 674 on TOEIC. May be taken concurrently with ENG 070.

ENG 074 Elementary English IIa: Listening and Speaking (1)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 74-76 or 675 to 699 on TOEIC. May be taken concurrently with ENG 075.

ENG 075 Elementary English IIb: Reading and Writing (1)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 74-76 or 675 to 699 on TOEIC. May be taken concurrently with ENG 074.

ENG 078 Elementary English IIIa: Listening and Speaking (1)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 77-79 or 700 to 729 on TOEIC. May be taken concurrently with ENG 079.

ENG 079 Elementary English IIIb: Reading and Writing (1)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 77-79 or 700 to 729 on TOEIC. May be taken concurrently with ENG 078.

ENG 080 Intermediate English I (3)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 80-84 or 730 to 760 on TOEIC. Covers speaking, writing, reading, and listening and vocabulary development.

ENG 085 Intermediate English II (3)

Continuation of Intermediate English I or placement through TOEFL iBT score of 85-89 or 761 to 790 on TOEIC.

ENG 090 Advanced Intermediate English I (3)

Non-credit course for occasional students and those planning to enter the Certificate program. Meant for non-native speakers of English scoring in the TOEFL iBT range 90-94 or 791 to 820 on TOEIC. Covers speaking, writing, reading, listening, and vocabulary development.

ENG 095 Advanced Intermediate English II (3)

Continuation of Advanced Intermediate English I or placement through TOEFL iBT score of 95-99 or 821 to 850 on TOEIC.
