Academic Success and Career Center
The Academic Success Center (ASCC) serves all OIC students in their quest for academic success in college. ASCC
coordinates referrals to tutoring programs, facilitates small study groups of four students or fewer, and sponsors academic
emergency seminars. For students who have legal accommodation for learning disabilities, ASCC helps secure their learning
accommodations for their classes. ASCC also recruits the best students to act as peer tutors.
The Center also offers OIC students and alumni career services, including information about potential employers and
companies seeking qualified candidates. Students are encouraged to begin using these services in their initial year at
OIC. In addition, the center has information on all aspects of career concerns, including salary surveys, directories of
employers, and vacancy listings. Full-time, part-time, summer, and practicum positions are posted in the Student Commons
Room in the Olentangy building.
Counseling
OIC administration believes that a student’s personal and emotional development is an integral part of his or her
intellectual development. As a result, the College maintains materials and referral information for students whose
emotional states are interfering with their academic progress. Information is available at the Student Commons Room and
through the ASCC.
